Sitting outside the Tahltan recreaction centre in Telegraph Creek where we can leech some wireless internet.

Since Stewart we've seen a lot and it's been quite a trip so far. At Kitwanga we were told that Highway 37 north was closed due to a mudslide. We wanted to take a short trip over to Stewart, Canada's northern most ice free port, and Hyder Alaska anyway. Photos to follow.

In Hyder we were close enough to a Grizzly bear to touch. Amazing. A juvenile male 4 years old. He chased fish kind of lazily, fat at the end of the season, played by himself in a pond and ignored us completely the whole half an hour. It was absolutely stunning.

Back in Kitwanga on the 12th., the highway once more clear, we headed for Iskut. There we caught up with old friends, made new ones and had great conversations about the state of the world in the north and elsewhere.

Chris caught some trout in Iskut lake and we stayed in a beautiful log cabin.

We drove out on a sunny day - the 14th - toward Dease lake, destination Telegraph Creek. It was an incredible drive with memories flooding in the whole way, from the moment we dropped down into the Stikine valley and crossed the bridge, to driving in to Dease, to the long drive down the gravel road to town.

More on that as I get time and have internet access!
